Aerial Thermal Roost Monitoring (ATRM)

Supporting ecological consultants with bat emergence surveys, PRF screening and building suitability assessment.

How We Can Help

ATRM is a Thermal-led drone monitoring service designed for ecology teams working on bat survey programmes.

During emergence season, ATRM supports nocturnal Thermal and visual capture across multiple potential roost features from a consistent aerial viewpoint. This helps teams monitor activity across complex elevations, rooflines and multi-building sites, while reducing the need for large numbers of ground-based cameras.

Outside peak survey months, ATRM can support early-stage PRF screening and suitability assessment, helping teams identify relevant features, understand building context and plan future emergence-season surveys more efficiently.

We provide the aerial capture and structured evidence. Ecological interpretation and assessment remain with your ecology team.

Thermal-Led Evidence for Bat Survey Workflows

Bat survey work can become resource-heavy, especially on large sites, constrained buildings or projects with multiple potential roost features.

ATRM helps by giving ecology teams a clearer aerial view of the site and a structured evidence pack to support review and reporting.

Ask yourself:

  • Are multiple PRFs difficult to monitor from the ground alone?

  • Would a consistent aerial viewpoint help cover rooflines, elevations or access points?

  • Are large numbers of ground cameras increasing setup time, hire cost and footage review?

  • Do you need clearer evidence across a multi-building or access-constrained site?

  • Would off-season screening help plan peak-season survey effort more efficiently?

ATRM is designed to help with these challenges by combining Thermal-led aerial capture, supporting visual imagery and structured outputs aligned to your brief.

What ATRM Delivers

ATRM can be scoped around two core objectives:

1. Emergence-season monitoring

During bat emergence season, ATRM provides time-stamped nocturnal Thermal and visual capture to help monitor activity across multiple potential roost features. This can support efficient survey coverage and reduce reliance on extensive ground camera deployment.

2. Off-season screening and suitability support

Outside peak survey months, ATRM can support PRF assessment, building suitability grading and future survey planning. This is particularly useful where teams need to prioritise buildings, elevations or features ahead of emergence-season work.
