Martyn's Law

Martyn’s Law (The Terrorism & Protection of Premises Bill), named in memory of Martyn Hett, a victim of the 2017 Manchester Arena attack, is upcoming UK legislation designed to enhance public safety by ensuring venues and event organisers take proactive steps to mitigate the risk of terrorism.
The legislation reflects lessons learned from past tragedies and aims to improve protective measures across the country.
By introducing a tiered system, it mandates appropriate security measures based on the size and nature of the venue or event.

For event organisers, Martyn’s Law brings new responsibilities, including conducting risk assessments, implementing staff training, and preparing effective evacuation and lockdown procedures. Enhanced-tier venues will need to go further, incorporating measures like detailed monitoring and physical security upgrades.
